Half or Full Day : The Temple of Philae, dedicated to the Goddess Isis was one of the temples which was re-positioned when the High Dam was created in 1970, and flooded the regional sites of many Nubian temples. Today, Philae is set on the beautiful island of Agelika, and visited by a relaxing boat ride. Sunlight illuminates the graceful colums and countryard of this temple, which covers a quarter of the island. Aswan was also the site from which the Pharaohs quarried for granite to build their magnificient temples and monuments. The Granite Quarries contain the remains of a colossal Obelisk which was abandoned during construction when cracks were found in the stone. No visit of Aswan is complete without a view of the High Dam on the borders of Lake Nasser, one of the largest lakes in the world.
